The educational assistance (scholarship) program provides single women with children the opportunity to finish their degree or train for a trade that leads to an improved future for them and their children by obtaining a better job.

Qualifications

To qualify for the educational assistance programs:

  1. Must be a single woman (including divorced/widowed) with children living at home residing in Brazoria County, TX or surrounding communities with preference given to Brazoria County, Tx residents.
  2. Must have joint or full custody of the children.
  3. Must show financial need and have made less than $40,000 the previous year.
  4. Must have high school diploma, GED or currently enrolled in college.
  5. Must enroll and maintain six (6) credit hours per semester if attending college or university.
  6. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Print and complete the application.

Return the completed application and required paperwork to WLS by the deadlines stated below. Applications received after the deadlines will not be considered.

Applicant requirements

  1. Scholarship Application including Essay must be submitted.
  2. Two letters of personal recommendation (relatives are excluded from providing recommendations).
  3. Copy of high school transcript/GED/or most recent college transcript.
  4. Copy of first page of most recent tax return.
  5. Copy or invoice of hours enrolled for next semester.
  6. Scholarships will be awarded twice a year. For consideration, applications must be submitted by May 1st for Summer/Fall semesters or by November 15th for Spring semester.
  7. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Make a copy of the application for your records.
