Our outreach/assistance program provides single women with children emergency assistance to help pay for utilities, auto repair, childcare, etc.  The intent of emergency assistance is a one-time funding situation for any applicant.

WLS is in partnership with other organizations and accepts referrals from, but not limited to: Pearland Neighborhood Center, Christian Helping Hands, Family Promise, YMCA, Women’s Center (Angleton), The Bridge, Young Lives, Brazoria County Alliance for Children, Life Skills House, Pearland Lioness and PISDs United for Kids.

Qualifications

To qualify for the emergency assistance programs:

  • A single mom (or other female guardian) must be legally divorced, never been married or widowed
  • Must have custody of children 18 years or younger
  • Applicant must assert that there is no male companion living in her residence

​Note: WLS no longer pays rent, mortgage, or car payments. 

To apply for assistance:

  1. Download and complete the Application and Budget form.
  2. Collect the first page from your most recent tax return (Form 1040 or equivalent).
  3. Submit the completed application and your 1040 to WLS.
